Emailing candidates
Send and receive emails from within the candidate profile.
The Messages tab in the candidate detail panel shows the full email conversation for this application. You can read, compose, and track emails without leaving Bringboard.
Composing an email
Click the compose bar at the bottom of the Messages tab. A minimal rich text editor supports bold, italic, links, and lists. Type your message and click Send.
Emails are sent from your org's configured sending identity (e.g. crew@hire.acme.com) with your name as the display name. Candidates can reply directly; replies are captured and appear in the same thread.
Using templates
Click the template button in the compose toolbar to insert a reusable message template. Templates support merge fields that resolve automatically:
{{candidate.firstName}},{{candidate.lastName}}{{position.title}}{{org.name}}{{sender.firstName}},{{sender.lastName}}
When you select a template, merge fields are resolved against the current candidate's data and inserted into the editor. You can edit the content before sending.
Delivery tracking
Each outbound email shows a status badge:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | The email was accepted by the mail server |
| Delivered | The email reached the candidate's inbox |
| Opened | The candidate opened the email (tracked via pixel) |
| Bounced | Delivery failed permanently; the address is suppressed |
Email threading
All emails for an application share a single conversation thread. The candidate sees one coherent thread in their inbox, and you see the same thread in Bringboard. RFC threading headers (In-Reply-To, References) ensure email clients group messages correctly.
Position-level emails
The Emails tab on the position page aggregates all conversations across all candidates. Threads needing a reply surface first, sorted oldest-first. A sidebar badge shows the count of threads awaiting a response.
