Setting up your organization

Configure your company profile, branding, and departments.

Your organization is the top-level container for everything in Bringboard: positions, candidates, team members, workflows, and settings. Most of the settings here affect how your company appears on the public careers page.

Company profile

Go to Settings → General to update your company name, website URL, and description. The name and description show up on your careers page header.

Branding

Upload your company logo under Settings → General. The logo is displayed on your careers page, in email headers, and at the top of the candidate-facing scheduling page. Square images at 256×256px or larger work best.

Brand color

Pick a primary brand color. This color is used for buttons, links, and accents on your careers page and scheduling pages. Choose a color with enough contrast against white for accessibility.

Custom domain

By default, your careers page is available at your-slug.careers.bringboard.com. To use your own domain (e.g. careers.acme.com):

  1. Go to Settings → General and enter your custom domain.
  2. Add a CNAME record pointing to cname.bringboard.com at your DNS provider.
  3. Click Verify. DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours, but most providers update within minutes.
SSL is provisioned automatically after DNS verification succeeds. No manual certificate setup needed.

Departments

Departments help you organize positions and filter candidates. Bringboard creates a starter set (Engineering, Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, People) during onboarding. You can add, rename, or remove departments under Settings → Departments.

Each position belongs to one department. Departments are visible on the careers page as a filter and appear in position details.

Hiring stages

Stages define the steps candidates move through for each position. The default pipeline is:

StageTypePurpose
InboxInboxNew applications land here for first review
Phone ScreenActiveInitial conversation to assess fit
On-siteActiveIn-depth interviews and assessments
OfferActiveOffer preparation and negotiation
HiredHiredTerminal stage - candidate accepted the offer
ArchivedArchivedTerminal stage - candidate rejected or withdrawn

You can rename stages, change their colors, and reorder them under Settings → Stages. Each position inherits the org-level stages when created but maintains its own copy, so changes to the org template don't retroactively affect existing positions.

The Inbox, Hired, and Archived stage types have special behavior. Inbox is where new applications land. Hired and Archived are terminal stages that set timestamps and update the candidate status. You can rename them, but every position needs exactly one of each type.
