Email setup

Configure your sending identity, custom domain, and sender settings.

Bringboard sends emails on your behalf through a dedicated mail infrastructure. You don't need to connect a Gmail or Outlook account. Emails are sent from your org's configured domain with proper authentication (DKIM and Return-Path).

How it works

By default, emails are sent from the platform domain (mail.bringboard.com) with your company name as the display name. Candidates can reply directly; replies are routed back to the application's conversation in Bringboard.

Custom sending domain

For a more professional sender identity, connect your own domain:

  1. Go to Settings → Email and enter your domain (recommended: a subdomain like hire.acme.com)
  2. Bringboard generates DKIM and Return-Path DNS records for you to add at your DNS provider
  3. Click Verify to confirm both records are in place
Use a subdomain (e.g. hire.acme.com) rather than your root domain to isolate sending reputation from your corporate email.

Sender name format

Choose how your name appears in the candidate's inbox:

FormatExample
Name at CompanyJane Smith at Acme Corp
Company onlyAcme Corp
Name onlyJane Smith

Workflow and system emails always use the company name, regardless of this setting.

Sender address prefix

When you have a verified custom domain, you can customize the local part of the From address (e.g. crew@, hiring@, talent@). Without a custom domain, the prefix defaults to crew.
