Sending and tracking

Email delivery, open tracking, bounces, and suppressions.

Every email sent through Bringboard is tracked from send through delivery and open.

Delivery statuses

StatusMeaning
SentAccepted by the mail server for delivery
DeliveredReached the recipient's mail server
OpenedThe recipient opened the email (tracked via an invisible pixel)
BouncedDelivery failed permanently
FailedThe email could not be sent (e.g. invalid address format)

Status badges appear on each email in the conversation thread and on the position-level Emails tab.

Bounce handling

Hard bounces automatically suppress the candidate's email address. Suppressed addresses are blocked from receiving further emails. The compose bar shows a warning when you try to email a suppressed address.

Suppression sources

SourceCauseCan be cleared?
BounceHard bounce from mail serverAuto-cleared when the candidate re-applies
ComplaintCandidate marked the email as spamAuto-cleared when the candidate re-applies
ManualAdmin suppressed the addressAdmin can unsuppress manually
Suppressions are org-scoped. A bounce at one org does not affect the same address at another org.

Reply routing

When a candidate replies to an email sent through Bringboard, the reply is automatically captured and appears in the application's conversation thread. This works through a per-application reply token embedded in the Reply-To address. Active conversations keep their tokens valid for one year after the last outbound email.
