Sending and tracking
Email delivery, open tracking, bounces, and suppressions.
Every email sent through Bringboard is tracked from send through delivery and open.
Delivery statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | Accepted by the mail server for delivery |
| Delivered | Reached the recipient's mail server |
| Opened | The recipient opened the email (tracked via an invisible pixel) |
| Bounced | Delivery failed permanently |
| Failed | The email could not be sent (e.g. invalid address format) |
Status badges appear on each email in the conversation thread and on the position-level Emails tab.
Bounce handling
Hard bounces automatically suppress the candidate's email address. Suppressed addresses are blocked from receiving further emails. The compose bar shows a warning when you try to email a suppressed address.
Suppression sources
| Source | Cause | Can be cleared? |
|---|---|---|
| Bounce | Hard bounce from mail server | Auto-cleared when the candidate re-applies |
| Complaint | Candidate marked the email as spam | Auto-cleared when the candidate re-applies |
| Manual | Admin suppressed the address | Admin can unsuppress manually |
Reply routing
When a candidate replies to an email sent through Bringboard, the reply is automatically captured and appears in the application's conversation thread. This works through a per-application reply token embedded in the Reply-To address. Active conversations keep their tokens valid for one year after the last outbound email.
